Master Gardeners of Greater New Orleans (MGGNO) is a volunteer organization affiliated with the LSU AgCenter’s Master Gardener Program. Our members complete intensive horticultural training and commit to ongoing service within the community.
Through research-based education and hands-on outreach, we provide reliable gardening guidance, support local initiatives, and promote sustainable practices across Greater New Orleans.
We serve both Orleans and Jefferson Parish, connecting residents with science-backed horticultural knowledge that strengthens our neighborhoods and natural spaces.
As part of the statewide Master Gardener network, we uphold LSU AgCenter standards of excellence and service.

We host classes, demonstrations, and learning opportunities that share research-based gardening techniques with the public.
We promote sustainable practices that protect soil health, native ecosystems, and Louisiana’s unique environment.
From plant sales to public events, we engage residents with practical knowledge and hands-on experience.
Our volunteers support and enhance community gardens, demonstration sites, and neighborhood beautification efforts.

Our LSU AgCenter partners support horticulture education across Greater New Orleans and Jefferson Parish.
Membership in MGGNO is open to certified Louisiana Master Gardeners residing in Orleans or Jefferson Parish who complete the required annual service and education hours. Our membership grows each year with new graduates. We gather monthly for continuing education presentations, collaboration, and community fellowship.
